From Smooth Sales to Radio Silence: My Stressful International Moving Experience

Great Sales Experience… Until the Contract Was Signed

The sales team was excellent — they did everything to help me up until the moment the contract was signed and payment was made. Then the nightmare began. No updates, no follow-ups. They even asked me to pay over €300 extra just to disassemble a simple IKEA child’s bed.

My move started one month and three days ago, and I still have no information about whether my shipment is in progress, completed, or even still in the Netherlands. The only update I received was after I chased them via email: “The container is filled.”
Since then: nothing. An absolute nightmare.

Why I Chose This Company Despite the Mixed Reviews

All companies I researched had a mix of good and bad reviews on Google and Trustpilot, so making a decision was difficult.
This wasn’t the cheapest quote I received. However, since the company is based in the Netherlands — my home country — I felt more comfortable trusting them.

Their website looked professional, and I appreciated the convenience of signing all documents electronically. The sales team, as mentioned, was very attentive. Even though the quote wasn’t the lowest, it seemed solid and gave me confidence that I was making the right choice for a delicate service like this.

Packing Day: Mixed Feelings About the Moving Crew

The moving team arrived on time and as scheduled, which was a big plus. Two Polish movers came with a truck and worked all day from 08:00 to 19:00 to pack around 15m³ of goods.

It took longer than I expected, but I hoped that was a good sign of careful work. One of the guys was very professional and packed everything well. The other… not so much. He accidentally packed my computer and bag, and when I opened the box to retrieve them, I found them just thrown into a huge box without any protection. No padding, no wrapping — nothing.

Advice for Others: Document Everything, Expect Surprises

Honestly, I have no definitive tips to offer because it all feels like a gamble. The moving companies seem to rotate service providers constantly, so your experience may depend entirely on who is assigned to you.

One of the movers told me he only works every other month, meaning there’s no consistency in staffing.
The only thing I can recommend: document absolutely everything. Keep records, take photos, and follow up in writing.

Even though I personally disassembled the IKEA bed and sent pictures and emails confirming this before the move, their accounting department keeps sending me invoices — trying to charge me €350 extra a month after the move. And I still have no idea where my things are.
