Moving from Germany to Sweden with Family

What motivated your decision to relocate from Germany to Sweden?

We relocated from Germany to my home country of Sweden, with a family of 5. It was super stressful preparing and packing, but once the moving company took over it was a smooth sail. The guys were on time, super friendly, and efficient. We have 3 kids, and the guys handled the situation with humour and smile, very pleasant experience.

How did you choose your moving company?

We compared prices of 5-6 companies with and without the tax deduction (ROT) you can do in Sweden on this kind of service. The best solution was the Danish company Move It. The prices ranged from 6k euros to about half of that. So, a huge price range and doing the research really paid off. We also checked the previous reviews this company had received and with very few exemptions they were all good. Actually, the exemptions were more on misunderstandings (deliberate or not…?) as we read through the exchange of replies. All in all, we were very happy with the choice.

What was the moving day like for you and your family?

The day of moving was stressful at first preparing and planning, but once the moving company arrived it was smooth sailing ahead. They called well in advance and were flexible on the arrival time. Once we agreed on a time, they were very punctual. The service was efficient and fast and the guys were super friendly and funny also with our kids which made the situation so much easier.

What advice would you give to others planning a similar international move?

Be extremely specific about what you want to move. The better preparation the better execution as many other things in life. We made a detailed packing list and shared it with the moving companies for more accurate prices/quotes and fewer surprises for us when executing the move. The packing list should be down to a level of each piece of furniture with dimensions and the number of boxes with dimensions.
