From Paris to Vienna: A Nightmare Move with PACA Moving

A Personal Decision Turns into a Logistics Disaster

The main reason for our move was marriage. My wife moved from Paris to Vienna after we got married. Unfortunately, the overall experience of this move was very bad — a total disaster for us. It started off nice and smooth, but after we made the payment, everything changed completely. The problems began with the loading of our household items into the truck and only got worse during the unloading.

We made a huge mistake by paying the full amount before the move was completed. No one should ever do that.

Why We Chose PACA Moving (EURO Move)

We received several quotes — some outrageously high (between €3,000–€4,000), others in the range of €1,500–€2,000. We narrowed it down to two and ultimately chose PACA Moving, even though they weren’t the cheapest. The main reasons were their responsiveness and the fact that they communicated well in English. They even revised a contract clause we didn’t like.

We also checked Trustpilot and didn’t see any major complaints. In hindsight, I suspect they have negative reviews removed regularly. I’m not even sure whether this review will remain visible to others.

Day 1 – Loading the Truck: Unprofessional and Unprepared

One day before the move, they texted us saying there was a problem with their payment system and requested full cash payment. Not just 50%, as stated in the contract — but the entire amount upfront. My wife withdrew €1,600 in cash, but the person responsible for collecting it never showed up. Only two workers arrived to load the truck — they had no information or equipment.

Although our contract included packing all household items into boxes and wrapping furniture for protection, they showed up with no trolleys, no boxes, not even tape. They asked if we had tape. They were lucky to find a trolley from the building manager, and then they literally smashed all our belongings into the small truck without any protection or stabilization. It was chaotic and careless. Just look at the photos — you’ll understand what I mean.

Once the truck was loaded, they scolded us for not paying. We explained that the payment couldn’t be made because no supervisor was present. We also told them the loading was extremely unprofessional and the goods were unprotected. Their only response was, “Don’t worry, our team is professional, everything will be delivered safely.”

When we asked for a photo of the loaded truck, they said, “The truck is on the road. The driver can’t just stop and take a photo. If you want your things to arrive in Vienna on time, you HAVE to pay now.” They were already in possession of all our furniture — so we paid.

We didn’t know then that the worst part was still ahead.

Day 2 – Delivery in Vienna: No Movers, No Help, No Answers

Two days later, a small truck did arrive at our apartment in Vienna — the only part of the deal they actually fulfilled. I greeted the driver and asked where the movers were. His response was almost laughable: “What movers?”

Using Google Translate, I learned that he was a Romanian driver hired through a subcontractor. PACA had simply rented the truck and told him to drive it to Vienna. He had no idea there was supposed to be a team to unload it.

The woman who had called and emailed me constantly about payment no longer responded. I finally reached someone who claimed to be the person in charge, but he wouldn’t answer my calls and sent only vague, distracting messages. I kept asking where the movers were, and the only answer I got was a false accusation — that I had misinformed them about which floor the apartment was on. That was absolutely untrue. I had even sent photos showing where the truck could park and that the apartment was on the first floor.

Eventually, he told me: “If you pay €150 more, you can get a mover.” That “mover” turned out to be the driver himself.

I reminded him that carrying items into the apartment was explicitly included in the contract. He stopped replying completely. After two hours of silence, I negotiated directly with the driver, and for €100, he helped me carry everything up. Just the two of us.

As expected, there were many scratches and damages. It would have been a miracle if there weren’t.

Seeking Compensation and Moving Forward

We have since requested compensation from PACA Moving for all the damages, the services they failed to deliver, and the overall poor quality of the experience. They haven’t responded at all.

We are now taking legal action — not just to recover what we lost, but also to hold them accountable for the immense stress and burden they caused.

Final Verdict: Avoid at All Costs

Do not ever use PACA Moving. That’s my only and strongest advice. I truly don’t believe they are capable of changing or improving.

If you are reading this after already booking with them, then at the very least: never pay the full amount before the move is complete.

They begin with promises, guarantees, and smooth communication. But once they have your money, they stop replying, stall you, and blame you for the services they don’t deliver.

If you enjoy drama, stress, and total chaos, PACA is your company.
Otherwise, stay far away.
