Let’s get things started! We’d like to know the origin and destination of your move, and most importantly what made you decide to pack up and leave! What was that experience like?

My origin was Madrid, Spain and my destiny was Cologne, Germany. Although I’m Brazilian and have moved around quite a lot, having lived in Lisbon, Portugal and several different cities in Spain, I’ve moved for personal and professional reasons, moving in with my boyfriend that lives in the city of Cologne and transferring my job to my company that has a branch here. It wasn’t an easy decision to make but I have a moving curriculum and I’m quite of an organized person. So I have started organizing 7 months previous to the actual moving.

Finding a good moving company is painful, we know that. How did you manage to choose the perfect one out of all the options out there?

I honestly did a deep research online. Sometimes, and most of the times, paying for the cheapest company can give you lots of headache in the future. So I was looking for a middle ranged budget in a company that I could trust my things to. And honestly, I was pretty impressed by the budget that I encountered, there’s a huge range, but Vesta made my mind and exceeded my expectations. They have amazing reviews online and it was if I trusted them right away. And the reviews were correct, they literally delivered, hahaha!

Let’s get to the fun part! Take us through the moving day – did everything go as planned?

Well, as I have previously said, I started planning this moving 7 months in advance, so that you understand that I’m a very serious organizer, haha. So the actual moving day was 5 days previous to my actual travel to my destination home. Needless to say, I had enough time to prepare, I have packed my things myself and when the day arrived, everything was very smooth. The guys that came to pick up my things did not take 20 minutes inside my place to take my things to the van. was expecting something to go wrong, cause you need to have some space for that, but honestly, everything exceeded my expectations!

Are you master of chaos or is chaos the master of you – What are your top 3 tips to help others make their moving day less chaotic?

I’m definitely the master, haha. I will think of everything that could go wrong months in advance. I have a schedule that I actually enter things to do and things to be done in feasible timelines and deadlines. With extra time to correct them if needed. I know that sometimes we get a not very good surprise, but it’s important to not get desperate and understand your options to solve it. Honestly, when you have money, you just pay for things to get done, even if things go wrong, with money they can easily go back being right. BUT I don’t have that luxury, and that’s why I plan very well myself.

Let’s talk money – did your move cost as much as you thought?

Being an international moving definitely had a bigger weight on the price but it’s super understandable, cost of gas (nowadays everyone knows is crazy), the trip, anyhow…

Last words?

I’m just thankful I had a great experience, I’m very happy with everything.
